The Phantom Gold HD can capture up to 1000 frames per second with incredible quality and resolution. The Phantom Flex builds on the great reputation of the Gold with increased resolution and dynamic range. Additionally the Flex can shoot up to 2500 frames per second.
The standard Phantom capture method starts with the camera sending images into an internal memory buffer. The images continue to "loop" through the memory buffer until the camera is "triggered." Once that the camera is triggered, the buffer stops recordering in the loop and retains the images of the previous action prior to the trigger. We can immediately review the footage through an HD1080p playback. The memory can be quickly erased and returned to the "loop record" status, or can be transferred to an on-board memory magazine. The on-board magazine has a lot more memory than what the camera can maintain. The "CineMag" can store a large number of takes and can be hot-swapped with another to accomplish a productive data storage workflow, allowing the camera to continue to operate.
With the CineMag removed from the camera, it is placed onto a download station. From the download station the data is transferred to several options of storage devices to transfer to post facility and for backup data storage.
