The Alexa can capture in two primary methods. Built into the camera (and at no additional rental charges), the camera records ProRes codecs. The Alexa camera supports Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) and ProRes 4444, and allows stunning HD images to be captured and recorded onto commercially available removable storage media called “SxS Cards.”
When the demands for final delivery are above the standards for ProRes codecs, the Alexa can be combined with S.Two or Codex Recorders to capture data in ARRIRAW. ARRIRAW provides uncompromised image quality. This uncompressed 12 bit raw Bayer sensor data output from the Alexa could be described as a digital negative. We offer several equipment options and tools are needed to record and work with ARRIRAW. We can also offer to process and configure ARRIRAW into any file format supported by the various editorial applications.
With the Alexa, there are restrictions and/or expanded abilities of the camera that match the project settings. We would want to match all the menu settings to ensure successful capture with your specific post environment.
